Singer and songwriter Billy Joel canceled over a dozen scheduled shows Friday after being diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus, a brain condition that resulted in him having problems with hearing, vision and balance.

Joel apologized for the cancellations in an Instagram post that noted he is undergoing “specific physical therapy” after being advised to refrain from further performances.
