Israel Preps For Potential Ground Invasion Into Lebanon Amid Hezbollah Conflict

Topline

The Israeli military is weighing a possible ground invasion into Lebanon, according to multiple outlets, amid an escalating conflict with Hezbollah that has killed hundreds and threatens to turn into a full-blown war.

Key Facts

The border between Israel and Lebanon has been hit by waves of aerial strikes from Israel’s military designed to create an opening for a ground invasion, CNN reported, citing Israel’s Maj. Gen. Ori Gordin.

More than 600 people in Lebanon have been killed following a series of strikes from Israel this week, with several thousand also injured or displaced.

Preparations for a ground incursion follow Hezbollah’s missile strikes into Israel, as the country claimed Wednesday one of the strikes targeted the major city of Tel Aviv—though Hezbollah said it was targeting the headquarters of Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency.

The U.S. has pushed for diplomacy in the region as President Joe Biden warned of “all-out war” in the Middle East during an appearance on “The View” on Wednesday, adding a “settlement that could fundamentally change the whole region” is still in play.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
