Trump Claims Harris ‘Just’ Requested Another Debate-But Says Again He Won’t Do It

Topline

Former President Donald Trump claimed the Harris campaign sought a second debate in a post on his Truth Social platform shortly after Tuesday night’s vice presidential debate—a purported offer he turned down once again.

Key Facts

In his post, Trump claimed Harris “just put out a request for another Debate” and suggested the Democrats are seeing a rematch because Walz “lost so badly tonight.”

Trump reiterated he has no plans to participate in another debate with Harris, insisting that he beat her and Biden in his only two debates of this election cycle.

Trump’s post also reiterated his earlier claim that it was too late to do another presidential debate, as early votes had already been cast—even though the last presidential debate in 2020 took place in late October.

What Are The Betting Odds For Another Debate?

Bookmakers on the crypto-based betting platform Polymarket believe there’s a 20% chance of another debate between Harris and Trump. The odds had spiked to 34% shortly before the Vice Presidential Debate on Tuesday night, but have sharply plummeted since then.

Big Number

2.6 points. That is the size of Harris’ lead in FiveThirtyEight’s weighted average of national polls, although the numbers remain extremely tight in crucial swing states. Despite this, Trump claimed in his post that he was “leading BIG in the Polls.”
